Buttermilk doesn't need an apology
A beginner mountain can be discussed as though it were a compromise made for the least experienced person. Buttermilk deserves a better conversation. Panda Peak and The Hideout are concrete learning facilities with names and purposes. For someone taking a first lesson, that is the main event.
The X Games association introduces a different Buttermilk story. There is no contradiction. A mountain can contain freestyle terrain and an introductory teaching environment without asking the same visitor to use both.
So let the first-timer choose a day for the skills they want to acquire. No borrowed ambitions required.
A useful place in an Aspen holiday
The four Aspen-area mountains have different characters. Ajax and Highlands emphasize more experienced skiing; Buttermilk provides the documented learning comparison. Treating the shared destination as four interchangeable entries would throw away the information that makes the choice sensible.
Locate the actual lesson at the Buttermilk base and choose accommodation against that morning. Downtown Aspen and Snowmass remain separate daily journeys, with RFTA providing the regional transport context and the relevant stop still to confirm.
A mixed group may split its plans, then meet later. That is coordination, not a failed holiday. Buttermilk makes a clear case for taking the beginner's day seriously: start where learning has a defined place, and let that be enough reason to come.
