Pico's calendar can decide the trip
A single primary lodge makes Pico easier to orient on a map than a sprawling collection of bases. But the decisive first-time detail may be on the calendar: the advertised introductory program runs on weekends and peak dates, rather than every ordinary weekday.
That deserves attention before choosing travel dates. A straightforward base arrangement cannot compensate for a lesson that is not offered on the day available.
Adult and youth products also have different formats. Read each reservation rather than making one booking stand for the whole party. The first-time meeting point is slopeside at the Pico base lodge, a concrete anchor once the session is confirmed.
Compared with nearby Killington, Pico presents a different orientation problem: less emphasis on choosing among sectors, more on matching the actual teaching dates and format. Establish those first, organize the road arrival and let the compact lodge-based plan do its useful work.
